One of the hardest things a human being can do, is to let go of the one they love.

As an astrologer, I often meet people who struggle with this. It’s a theme that repeats again and again, and I often feel helpless when trying to help with it.

But one night, I dreamt of a black cat.
A dream that perhaps can ease a little of your pain…

I open a window and push a black cat down onto the snow-covered ground.
Before I can close the window, the cat jumps back up onto the windowsill. Again, I push it out into the cold.
Again, it jumps up. I push it out – again and again and again.
And each time it comes back.

I keep pushing it away.
Suddenly it gives up, and walks off.
It doesn’t look back.

I wake up, filled with infinite melancholy. That fleeting moment of sadness, the moment when we let go.

I don’t quite know who I was in this dream; was I the cat, or the one who pushed it out?

Perhaps I was both?

Just like for the cat in my dream, it can be hard for us humans to let go.
We often need several rounds back to the windowsill before we can manage to go alone out into the cold. But there is a maximum number of times we can bear to jump up only to be rejected again. At some point, the limit is reached. And it’s not only the cat that must be aware of this, but also the one who pushes it away. For at a certain point the cat will move on, and then it may not look back. For deep within its wise feline soul, it knows that there will always be someone else willing to let it in from the cold. It just knows.

For as one window closes behind the cat, another window opens somewhere else.
There sits someone who has long been waiting.
For just this cat.
To come in from the cold.

The cat is on its way, but not quite ready.
It just needs to lick its wounds first.
Keep turning its gaze away from the closed window.
And direct it toward the one that is open.

If you are strongly influenced by Aries, it is often easier for you than for others to let go, for Aries is an expert at starting over.

For Taurus, on the other hand, it can be extremely difficult to move on. Taurus enters things slowly, and leaves them in the same way. Taurus is possessive and may refuse to go. It can lay siege to your windowsill, and you might need a bulldozer to get it out.

Gemini is usually so curious that it sooner than expected finds someone else to turn its attention to.

Like Taurus, Cancer can also cling tightly, for it attaches itself very strongly to what it calls home. It may lie under your window for weeks. Of all the signs, this one may have the hardest time letting go.

Leo is too proud to want to stay where it is not wanted, and can quickly console itself with other admirers right outside your window – preferably where you can see it – but deep down it is more wounded than anyone suspects.

If it loved you, it can be extremely difficult for it to ever forget, but once it decides to let go, you will never see it again. However, it might want revenge, so beware. Sagittarius is peculiar, for it might applaud the new freedom it has gained. From the start, it wouldn’t have jumped back after being pushed out.
